Belleville, Illinois - Maurice G. Petri, 97, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Belleville, IL, born December 13, 1926, in New Athens, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday August 19, 2024, in Dunedin, FL. Mr. Petri was a retired car salesman. He was a WW2 U.S. Army veteran who served at Gen. Douglas MacArthur's headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Maurice was a member of several organizations including the Elks Club, Freeburg Sportsman's club, Blue Lodge Masons, York Rite Shriner Masons, American Legion, V.F.W, Optimist Club, Eastern Star, PSOP Men's Club. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Mr. Petri was preceded in death by his parents - August and Lena (Kraft) Petri, one daughter - Marcia Albers and his brother - Vernon Petri who was killed in the Korean War.

Surviving him are his daughter - Cynthia Petri of Clearwater, FL, two grandsons - Tom and Tony Albers and two gr. grandchildren.

Memorials in Mr. Petri's honor may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children.

No formal services will be observed.

Private burial will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens, IL.
