WELCOME TO BELLEVILLE

Celebrating 90 years of service in Belleville

We have been serving Veterans & our community in Belleville for over 90 years.  Chartered in 1934, Belleville VFW Post 1739 continues its mission to honor our Veterans, promote patriotism in our schools & community, and support our Constitution.  We welcome you to our Post.
With so many national organizations competing for resources, LOCAL veteran service organizations such as your Hometown All-American Post 1739 struggle to receive the necessary financial support from the community to continue to serve our most vulnerable Veterans. Please continue to support those organizations, however, please don't forget about your All-American VFW Post 1739 who serves Veterans right here in your hometown.

IN-COUNTRY

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

There is a new cartoon everyday.

Commander's Corner

Commander John Lawson

Commander's Message to Post Members

First, thank you for entrusting me to lead our post for the 2024 -2025 VFW year. We are coming off of a stellar program year in 2023 - 2024. Comrade Doug Jameson has led our post to not only All-State honors but also to All-American honors. Many thanks to Comrade Jameson for his unwavering commitment to Post 1739 and we wish him all the best as he assumes his new role as District 14 Commander.

We have our work cut out to match last year's success. My goals in the coming year are to:

  1. Increase member participation;
  2. Create more predictable revenue lines; and
  3. Build a post centered on friendship and camaraderie.

To accomplish these goals, we all have to do something to contribute. Please consider stepping forward to chair a committee, we have many opportunities to help.

In the meantime, my Post 1739 Commander's Challenge for 2024 - 2025 is for each member to support 4 mission events and attend 9 Regular Meetings (beginning June 12th, 2024) in the 2024 - 2025 VFW Year. Essentially that will equate to 1 mission event each quarter and attendance at 75% of our regular meetings. Members with the highest level of participation will receive a personalized commendation medal.
