WELCOME TO BELLEVILLE

Celebrating 90 years of service in Belleville

We have been serving Veterans & our community in Belleville for over 90 years.  Chartered in 1934, Belleville VFW Post 1739 continues its mission to honor our Veterans, promote patriotism in our schools & community, and support our Constitution.  We welcome you to our Post.
With so many national organizations competing for resources, LOCAL veteran service organizations such as your Hometown All-American Post 1739 struggle to receive the necessary financial support from the community to continue to serve our most vulnerable Veterans. Please continue to support those organizations, however, please don't forget about your All-American VFW Post 1739 who serves Veterans right here in your hometown.

IN-COUNTRY

A satirical reflection by Author/Artist Phil Fehrenbacher

Phil enlisted in the Army in 1965 where you served for years in Vietnam.  He became a graphic designer and has worked for the state of Oregon for 26 years.  He retired in 2003 and started the Cartoon "In-Country".  The cartoons reflect his experiences during his tour of duty in South Vietnam.

Commander’s Message to Post Members

     First, thank you so much for entrusting me to lead our post for the 2025-2026 VFW program year.  Historic milestone for VFW Post 1739: First Female Commander Elected.  This significant event marks a proud and progressive step forward for the Post, honoring the service and leadership of all veterans while embracing the evolving face of military service.  We are coming off a fantastic program year in 2024-2025.  Comrade John Lawson has led our post to All-State honors and All-American honors.  Most impressive, we are an official VFW 125th Anniversary Commemorative Post.  Many thanks to Comrade Lawson for his unwavering commitment to Post 1739, and we wish him much success at the Veteran Assistance Commission.

     We have work to do to match last year’s success.  My goals, along with my leadership team, for the coming year are:

1)Increase member participation;
2)Becoming a more diverse organization;
3)Create more revenue income.
4)Build a post centered on friendship and camaraderie

     If you are a veteran who served in a foreign conflict, we invite you to join our mission, camaraderie, and continued service to community and country.  Please help us build a VFW that reflects the diversity of those who have served.

Welcome our Leadership Team
